This is the month in which most of my favorite people were born! It is the month that starts the holiday season and it is the month that cools significantly here in AZ.
In the first day of October we have seen a 15 degree temperature drop… Windows down, hair blowing in the wind, cool breeze – YAY, it is FALL!!!!
My favorite people were born this month. My husband, my brother, one of my many nephews, my sister and my Mana (grandma to the rest of you). What a wonderful month to celebrate life… Again – I cannot say it enough, it is COOL here. And the HOLIDAYS are just 30 days away.
This month T and I look forward a smidgen more financial freedom, which in this economy, I am so very proud of… we are progressing, not digressing.
But, what is more… this month I travel with my mom, my best friend, to go celebrate my Mana’s 90th birthday.
So… on to my Mana. My Mana has been the most amazing grandma in the world… From singing to us and coloring with us as children. To teaching us how to cook and iron as kiddos. She is the absolute, most amazing woman I’ve known and I am so glad she is my gram. The years were great to her… living and loving much younger than her years would imply. She taught me how to speak some French and some Polish… she taught me how to make homemade lemon bars and apple pie, she taught me my grandfathers native Polish foods. She took us swimming in Lake Huron even though she didn’t know how to swim. She piled us into the car and took us all out for ice cream. She even held the towel around my head when I cut it open and watched as I got stitches, though she faints at the site of blood. My Pata (grandpa) died when I was very young and she never allowed us to forget him. Reminding us who wrote our baby poems and who picked up change off the street to start us savings accounts… My gram is one wonderful woman, taking me canoeing and starting a colleciton of Precious Moments and rubber stamps for me. She cared about our passions, our friends and our hearts.
This Halloween my Mana turns 90, though she has Alzheimer’s now and won’t remember my visit, she still recognizes me and this moment will be ever so valuable to me and the memories I carry with me.
