My First Baby

I am so proud of my pups. They have adjusted to little miss Avery better than I could have ever expected. They have learned when to play and when to relax, when to protect and when to leave alone. They have learned to love her up close and from a distance. Lucky and Zoe are doing a good job at being second fiddle, which is a place they’ve never known.
I love both my pups, I do. I think they are both unique with unique personalities and temperaments. I enjoy Lucky’s big heart and desire to please and protect. I love Zoe’s independence and calm demeanor. They were my first kids, if you know me well, you know this to be truth.
However, I feel for my Lucky dog… He is my first baby. My big dog. My love. He truly has a special place in my heart. His first couple months in our home were trying and scary, his little life hanging on the brink. Then we brought Zoe home and what was his house became their house. They learned to play and be as pup siblings. And now… now they are not our top priority, now they come in second (a very close 2nd), now they wait until the baby is fed, bathed, changed, burped, loved, held… And I must say, my boy Lucky… He is a doll.. He used to sleep in our bed, now he is on the floor. He used to cuddle up on the couch in my lap, now he sits near my feet. He used to get the first hugs and kisses, now he comes in third. I adore this dog… I love this dog. I cannot wait for him and Avery to become best friends… He’ll be the best pup friend she ever had.

We had Gilly, a boxer, who was my firstborns best friend! He was so amazing with our boys! He learned quickly how to deter them when they could crawl- he would cover them in kisses til they would retreat! It's so fun to look back on the video today…we miss him so much!
