I. Did. It.
I. Did. It.
I have celebrated Avery’s life by tattooing her birthdate on my wrist. As with all the tattoos I have, this one has been on my mind for 13 months (maybe even longer based on the gustation period). At first, it started with an inspiration to get a tattoo in honor of my tiny human. I love tattoos and it always starts with a stroke of inspiration. Then it was the random daydream of what it should be. One day inspiration appeared in the form of a Pinterest post (I had been batting around a couple ideas, but none had hit home yet). I saw an image of a block tattoo, the block was made of 3 or 4 personal dates on the back of a ladies neck. If you know me, you would have known that I fell in love with it instantaneously. I fell in love because for me tattooing names is not an option and two my tattoos are very personal to me. They are things that will never change, places I cannot see easily, thoughts that lingered for a good year or two before tattooing and unique to my style. So… this was no different. I loved the idea that there would be a date on me and to a general passer-by there would be no knowledge of the importance. I chose to tattoo the date of her birth on me, but still needed to make the crucial decision of where and of course bite the bullet and decide when. I decided on my wrist because I love that I can see “her” with me always and last night I did it…
I am in love with this tattoo. It catches my eye and I am surprised by it’s beauty and simplicity. I adore the human that inspired it and I love the new addition… I am pleased with my permanent art, so very pleased. 🙂
