Welcome Chicken + Donuts
YOU GUYS… Have you heard of Welcome Chicken + Donuts? Well, if not, let me introduce you.
Let’s back up just a bit… Have you heard of Welcome Diner? I have written about it before here, and it just so happens that Welcome Chicken + Donuts happens to be the younger sister of said Welcome Diner, my favorite biscuit joint. Now that you know that little ditty, its time to introduce you to one delicious donut shop.

Let me start by stating something quickly, we did not eat any chicken so our experience is solely based on the donuts. However, I am certain the chicken would be incredible as you see, I’ve eaten it on a biscuit at Welcome Diner… So… enough about that, let’s get back to the donuts.
The building is an unassuming location off of 16th Street and Buckeye. Located next door to a Burger King, this once fast food joint has been reconstructed as a magical donut shop. The exterior has been refreshed with metal and turquoise and a natural wood patio. The neon sign seems to pay tribute to the old fast food restaurant while also creating a modern vintage look that the Welcome Diner also portrays.
Inside you will find clean walls with random murals. The turquoise and metal continue and a row of booths invites one to stay and indulge.

The Mr, the Doodle and I made the drive after understanding that this delicious location was in the works and seeing it featured in our local Phoenix Magazine. And let me tell you… Selecting the flavors to dive into was one of the most difficult tasks.
The flavors are unique to say the least, yet they make total sense. We arrived at Welcome Chicken + Donuts seeking six donuts and we left with a dozen. You can select from Spicy Cinnamon Apple Fritter, Maple Bacon, Chocolate Rose Pistachio, Chocolate Coconut Almond, Cardamom, Lemon Poppy, Chipolte Limon, Cherry Amaretto… And the list goes on.

We headed home with a dozen donuts full of magic and flavor to taste test as a family. We did select six traditional flavors so that our less than adventurous kiddos could enjoy the fruits of our labor. We then selected six additional flavors to cut into quarters and test. The results, delicious, happy tummies and new favorite flavors to add to our arsenal of delicious donuts.
When you make the trip to Welcome Chicken + Donuts you must try the Chocolate Coconut Almond, Cheddar Apple Fritter, Cardamom, Maple Bacon and PB Black Berry Liqueur donuts. Yum yum!
