We Bought A House
Ok, so we bought the house back in October (2017), not too recently after all. It has been our dream to purchase a house in a specific area for a long time and it has been our dream to find a home where our family can settle in for the long haul of raising our girls.
Sure, our two older girls are headed to college way sooner rather than later, but we still had a vision of creating roots for our blended family. It took five years, many rentals and a starter house for our family to get here… But here we are – this is our house.
There were a few requirements on the list of must haves. The neighborhood. Already updated / remodeled (although any future homes we may purchase I will think twice about this aspect). Five bedrooms (space for kids and guests). Split floor plan (who wants to hear their kids all the time). An office (no more work at the dining room table for J). An open concept (because family). A yard with potential (we’ll make it dreamy). A three car garage (time to park both cars in a garage and have room for storage). We also had a few wishes. In the long run, as every home owner knows, compromises were made.
The style of the home did not resonate, but the bones of the home are nearly perfect and the wish list was met in near entirety. We aren’t so much French Country as we are Mid-Mod meets Boho Chic meets Contemporary. Thats quite the blending of styles and we’re up for a good challenge.
This is where we started, this is our homes good bones and great potential. It’s exciting to make an introduction of this home prior to updates being made. It is exciting to share in the journey of finessing every room to reflect our personality, our style and our quirks, our authenticity.
Ready, set, update… This is a journey and we will bite off what we can when we can. I cannot wait to share room by room updates with you as we settle into our house and make it our home.
Welcome home.
