Sometimes in life someone enters your life as a stranger and then exists in your life as your other half. They are everything you’re not and everything you wish you could be. They are epically funny and crazy as can be in all the best ways. They grace this world with energy and spunk and love. Sometimes life gives you a soul sister.

We met in 7th grade and 25 years later we are still bffs! Something in that first meeting created a life bond that has been unbreakable. It’s in the way we chat, the way we disconnect and then have the ability to reconnect, the way our lives have always been parallel and the way our friendship has always been easy. It’s in the way we strive to be more, the way we parent similarly, the way our husbands are both serial hard workers. It’s in the way we launch a chat, drop a call and just simply respect one another for who we are right here in the now.

This gal is bananas awesome. She runs a household, mamas two littles so sweetly, supports her hubby launching company after company and has a side business creating the most comfortable and cute graphic tees.

First, please introduce yourself as an individual! Who are you away from Rockin Destiny? What are your passions, goals and life like outside of the brand? 

Hello! My name is Bridgette Castaneda! I’m a wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend and a follower of God. I live with a passion for fashion and I’m a public relations / marketing obsessed gal.

I am a born and raised Texan! Proud to be a native. I’m now 36 (nearly 37) years old and raising two littles with my hottie hubby. Together we are living the entrepreneurial lifestyle – he, launching a new business this summer and I, running Rockin Destiny and our household while also supporting his business launch.

Next what / who is Rockin Destiny? 

Rockin Destiny was created out of a passion for cutie graphic t-shirts up-styled with accessories and amazing shoes. The business happened completely unexpectedly. I began creating for myself and my family out of a desire to have graphic tees I was unable to find in stores. Friends and family loved what we wore and started asking where I got the tees. I started this company out of a simple need to fulfill and create for others what I had already created for my family.

My then four year old daughter named us Rockin Destiny and it felt so right it stuck. Now Rockin Destiny is integrated into every facet of my life and has become my life line to me. It is my passion project and where I fulfill my creativity. Where I wasn’t born with entrepreneurial blood, I have quickly adapted to the ups and downs of running a small business.

Now a few questions to dig deeper and get to know you and the brand …

How are you balancing entrepreneurship with life (raising your cuties, marriage, supporting an entrepreneur of a husband, friendship, etc.)? 

I take it day-by-day. Some days I feel like throwing in the towel. And other days I am on top of the world. It is a constant art of juggling, sacrificing and most importantly praying.

Are you a night owl or an early bird gets the worm kind of gal?

I am a night owl through and through.

Coffee, tea or favorite bevy?

Coffee. Caramel Macchiato.

What does your morning routine look like? What do you do in the morning to create positivity throughout your day? Favorite breakfast (always looking for delicious inspirations)?

My favorite breakfast is a coffee with a yogurt parfait and a pastry, always.

My morning routine looks a lot like chaos to start. I roll out of bed at the very last minute and run around like a chicken with my head cut off, while getting the kids ready and out of the door. Once the kids are dropped off, then I really get my day started on the right foot. I begin with a morning bible devotional, create my to do lists and hit up the gym.

What are your greatest indulgences?

Shoes and wine.

What inspired the launch of Rockin Destiny?

A desire to create personalized items I couldn’t find. I literally love dressing up a great t-shirt and was struggling to find what I wanted, in the quality I wanted, for the price I wanted. I also love to throw parties. Parties with themes and personalized goodie bags. After dealing with people, the quality and the prices I was being charged to purchase unique shirts and personalized items I just knew I could create the items on my own. It worked out.

How / when did you find the courage to leave corporate and launch Rockin Destiny?

I left corporate when I became a mom. I could never see myself working in a corporate job after having children. I wanted to be there for them in ways corporate would not allow. After a while I knew I needed something that was my own and allowed me to do and be more. Allowed me to have something that was mine outside of being a mom and wife.

Launching Rockin Destiny was a leap of faith entirely. My ability to create gave me courage, but also the need to maintain and grow without a safety net drove my motivation.

How do you manage and grow your business?

Rockin Destiny has found success entirely from word of mouth. There is an ebb and flow to how busy the business is in a general sense. Creating unique tees can be quite seasonal – Halloween, Christmas, 4th of July, etc. But, there is also a need for family reunion tees, travel tees, life benchmark tees.

The business has also grown because I wear my designs. My designs are a walking billboard. Whether I am wearing them, or friends and family have them on, there is often a conversation that includes an ask about the tees and my business grows. My kiddos school and sports teams also tap into my creativity and I love creating for teachers and coaches. It’s my passion.

What has made Rockin Destiny successful?

Word of mouth. Repeat customers. My Etsy shop. Me and my family wearing my designs.

What are your goals and dreams for Rockin Destiny? What does the future look like? 

The future for me is more than just clothing. The future includes creating events and integrating all my designs with party planning. I love creating gift baskets and other memorable and unique personalized items. Rockin Destiny will be so much more than tees and really support a complete experience for my customers.

What would you say to other dreamers? To other women longing to express creativity? To other women longing to launch a business and pursue entrepreneurship? 

Do. It.

There is nothing to lose and you will never know unless you just do it. Ask yourself “why not?”. What is the worst that could happen, you fail, but everybody fails until they succeed. If there is something you want to do just go for it, the alternative is constantly dreaming.
